Care needs are health information. We treat them as sensitive personal information: we use them only to show which communities have what the person needs and, when you ask, to tell the communities you choose. If you are signed in, the seniors you add, including their care needs, are kept with your account so they are there on every device you sign in on.
Information collected automatically
- Storage on your device that makes the site work: your saved communities, the seniors and places you added, your recent searches, the name and phone you last typed in a request and, if you sign in, a sign-in cookie. None of it is used for advertising. The Cookie notice lists it all.
- Server logs kept for security and to fix errors: IP address, date and time, page requested.
- No analytics today. We do not use analytics, session recording or advertising tools. If we add usage statistics, they will not identify you, and we will update this notice first.
Some parts of a page load directly from other services, which see your IP address the way any website does: map images (OpenFreeMap), community photos (the community’s own website or Google), and the bot check when you ask for a sign-in code (Cloudflare Turnstile).
Information from other sources
Information about communities (licenses, state inspection reports, prices, photos, reviews posted on Google) comes from public records, the communities themselves and other public sources. It is about communities, not about you. Inspection reports are published by the state; we do not add the names of residents.
2. How we use information
PurposeInformation used
- Show communities, prices and state records near the place you search
- Your search; your location only if you choose “Use my current location” (used once, not stored)
- Show drive times from places that matter to you
- The places you add
- Show which communities have what your loved one needs
- Care needs you added
- Send your question or visit request to the community you choose, and pass on their reply
- Contact details, message, and the senior details you choose to include
- Let you sign in without a password
- Email address and a one-time code
- Email you updates about communities you follow
- Email address and preferences
- Keep the site secure and working
- Server logs, the bot check, necessary storage
- Meet legal obligations
- As required
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. We do not use it to train AI models.
3. Who we share it with
- Communities you choose. When you send a question or a visit request, we send what you entered to that community, and only to that community. We ask each time.
- Our service providers, who process information for us under contract and may not use it for anything else: Vercel (website hosting), DigitalOcean (database), Postmark (email delivery), Cloudflare (bot check at sign-in), and openrouteservice by HeiGIT (address lookup and drive times; it receives the address you type and a start point rounded to about 100 meters).
- Legal reasons, when required by law or to protect someone’s safety.
- A buyer or successor, if Clear is sold or merged, under this notice.
How we are paid. Communities may pay Clear a fee after a family we introduced moves in. We share your details with a community only when you direct us to. Payments never affect ratings, the order of results or what we show.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising, as those terms are defined in California law.
4. How long we keep it
InformationKept for
- Seniors, places and saved communities kept on your device only
- Until you remove them or clear your browser storage
- Account, seniors kept with your account, and update preferences
- While your account is open; deleted when you delete your account
- Questions, visit requests and replies
- While your account is open; erased when you delete your account, apart from the bare record below
- Sign-in sessions
- 60 days from your last visit, or until you sign out
- Server logs
- Up to 30 days
When you delete your account, we keep only a bare record that an introduction to a community happened (a reference, the community and the date, with no personal details), because communities may pay a fee for it.
5. Security
We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls and sign-in codes instead of passwords. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
6. Children
Clear is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your choices
- Use the site without an account.
- Download everything we keep for your account, or delete your account, on Your account.
- Stop update emails with the link in any email.
- Remove seniors, places and saved communities from your device on the site, or by clearing your browser storage.
- Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends it, we treat it as a request to opt out of sale and sharing. We do neither, so the site works the same.
8. Your California privacy rights
This section applies to California residents and supplements the rest of this notice. It is our notice at collection under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA).

We do not sell or share personal information, and have not in the last 12 months. We use sensitive personal information only to provide the service you asked for, so we do not offer a “Limit the Use” link.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and get a copy;
- delete personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- opt out of sale or sharing (we do neither; Global Privacy Control is honored);
- limit the use of sensitive personal information (see above);

How to make a request
Email privacy@clearseniorliving.com. If you have an account, you can also download your data or delete your account yourself on Your account. We will confirm we received a request within 10 business days and respond within 45 days (we may extend once by 45 days and will tell you why). To protect you, we verify requests by sending a code to the email address we have on file. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof of authorization.
Shine the Light (Cal. Civ. Code 1798.83). We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.
Do Not Track (CalOPPA). No cross-site tracking takes place on Clear, so the site behaves the same whether or not your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal. Global Privacy Control is honored as described above.
9. Other US states
Residents of other states with privacy laws (for example Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas, Virginia) have similar rights to access, correct, delete and opt out. Use the same contact methods. If we decline a request you may appeal by replying to our answer; we will respond within the time your state’s law requires.
10. Visitors outside the United States
Clear is designed for people looking for senior living in the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is handled as described in this notice and stored in the United States.
11. Changes and contact
We will post changes here and change the date at the top; for important changes we will tell account holders by email.
