What’s included, and common cost questions
What does the monthly price include? Usually rent, three meals, housekeeping and activities. Care is often priced separately by level of help.
Do prices go up? Most communities raise prices once a year. Ask how much the last increase was and how much notice they give.
Can Medi-Cal pay? Some assisted living communities take the Assisted Living Waiver. Ask Glen Park whether they do and if there’s a waiting list.

Rating & safety How to read thisThese are the state’s own categories. Type A: problems that, if not corrected, put residents’ health, safety or rights at direct and immediate risk. Type B: problems that could become a risk without correction, or record-keeping problems that affect care. Both must be corrected. Complaints the state didn’t confirm are shown but never counted against the community.

From day one, the administrators seemed indifferent towards their staff and overworked. Calls for assistance were ignored for hours. Medications were missed or administered incorrectly. Basic hygiene was completely neglected — her room often smelled like…

In fact, on the day of her first visit she proclaimed, "I love it here," which was music to the ears of her family. The staff has always been considerate and caring of Julia's needs and concerns, and very respectful of her as a person, because Julie has a…
